Each year, a vibrant group of young performers comes together to showcase a unique rendition of beloved musicals through the Penguin Project. This program offers youth with a range of developmental disabilities and special needs the chance to shine on stage.

Every participant is paired with a peer mentor who supports them throughout the entire process. The Penguin Project fosters creativity and social skills as these young performers collaborate and connect with others while engaging in a full-scale musical production.

The name "Penguin Project" symbolizes resilience and teamwork. Just like penguins, who may not soar through the skies but excel in many other remarkable ways, these children can also achieve incredible things. Despite facing various challenges, they have the potential to thrive, demonstrating their strength and capabilities.

Founded by Dr. Andrew Morgan, a developmental pediatrician specializing in neurodevelopmental disabilities, the Penguin Project highlights the transformative power of theater for children with conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, and other neurological and developmental challenges. Dr. Morgan has successfully established chapters across the United States, spreading the positive impact of this initiative.

The New Stage Players Penguin Project proudly serves as the 26th chapter in the nation and is the exclusive home for this groundbreaking program in Siouxland.
